Reporting from Zimbabwe, award-winning journalist Christina Lamb writes that “As regime cronies treat themselves to supercars, teachers earn £1 a day and pizzas cost $180, some people almost miss Mugabe. “Welcome to Zimbabwe. No power, no water, no cash,” one interviewee tells her. She says she should not have been surprised given that the “new dispensation”, as the country’s rulers term themselves, are the same people who brought Zimbabwe to its knees. Despite the devastating crisis, the ruling ZANU PF elite continue to live lavishly, with one MP taking delivery last month of a brand new yellow Lamborghini super SUV. “I’m one hell of a satisfied customer,” Justice Mayor Wadyajena tweeted.
